Shipley Family Graveyard. Adam Shipley patented Adam's Garden, 1212 acres, in 1754. He and his wife Ruth Tevis Shipley are buried here, along with other family members. The foundations of the house are in the group of trees in the distance to the right. The land is now owned by the State of Maryland.

The plaque that was on the base has disappeared. We have been unable to determine what happened to it.

This shows the location of the Adam's Garden homestead. It's between Rt. 32 and Slack's Rd, north of Springfield State Hospital on Rt. 32 and the Second Chances Horse Rescue on Slacks Rd.

Adam's Garden patented by Adam Shipley in 1954. He was the grandson of Adam Shipley who arrived in Annapolis in 1668.

Clean-up of Adam's Garden Shipley family graveyard. The brush has been cleared by volunteers from the Maryland Coalition to Protect Maryland Burial Sites; and the trees were removed in January 2019.
